The Vice Chancellor, Professor A. Babatunde Idowu and the entire Samuel Adegboyega University community were on Thursday overwhelmed with joy following the donation of a highly sophisticated photo/video camera by Pastor and Deaconess Oyedeji O. Idowu. The camera which arrived Nigeria from the US was presented to the Head, Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Ekwe Okwudiri Chris by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Idowu, on behalf of the donor’s family.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Pastor (Major, Dr.) and Deaconess Oyedeji O. Idowu who joined the ceremony via zoom said he and his wife were happy to make the donation to the University. He added that he was encouraged by the way the donation was received and promised to always have the University in mind. According to Pastor Idowu, “I am an ordained Pastor in The Apostolic Church and that gives me the right to preach the gospel here in the US. As a pastor in the Church, we shall continue to do our best for our University. More so, the Vice Chancellor is my uncle and I am willing to support in the ways I can.”
It will be recalled that Pastor (Dr.) Oyedeji O. Idowu is a renowned Chaplain and a Major in the United States Army where he has been serving meritoriously for several years.
Presenting the camera on behalf of the donor, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Idowu, expressed joy over the donation. He said that the entire university community was extremely pleased with the camera as it would help the Department of Mass Communication to improve on its practical activities. According to the VC, “this donation is very significant in many respect. I am sure that this is just the beginning of more donations in the University. I can assure you, we are going to celebrate God for this provision with everything within us”.
Receiving the gift on behalf of staff and students of Mass Communication Department, the Head of Department, Dr. Ekwe Okwudiri said he was over excited over the donation. Dr. Ekwe explained “that the Department had long wanted a camera with this kind of configuration. Believe me, this gift is very important to the Department as it will significantly help photojournalism students in their studio work. I must confess to you, here in Nigeria, our department will be among the few universities to use a camera with this level of sophistication. The staff and students of the department are very grateful.
The Bursar of the University, Mr. Simeon Akinpelu prayed for God’s mercies upon Pastor Oyedeji O. Idowu and his family.
Other dignities at the presentation ceremony were the Registrar of the University, Mr. Akinwale Esan; the Dean of the Postgraduate School, Professor Jeremiah Idialu; the University Public Relations Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Abhuliman; lecturers and students of Mass Communication Department.
